Personal finance practice — working with clients remotely
We put your spending, your budget and your savings goals on one page, and keep them there.
Photographed in our own workroom — the ledgers, the plans and the reports a client ends up holding.
Each of these ends with something written down that you keep.
We take three months of your outgoings and turn them into categories you recognise.
A budget built around your actual pay dates, not a generic template.
For a deposit, a car, a wedding or a cushion — named, dated and costed.
Every recurring payment mapped to a date, so nothing lands in the wrong week.
For two people sharing money: who pays what, and what stays separate.
Ongoing work: we compare the plan against what actually happened and adjust it.
Scope and fees are confirmed in writing after the first conversation — nothing is charged before you agree to it.
Before any plan is written, your outgoings are read and categorised properly — the ones with vague card descriptions included. You approve the categories; we do not guess them for you.
A budget only holds if the money is there on the day the bill is. We set limits against your actual pay cycle, keep a buffer for the unexpected, and leave room for the spending you have no intention of giving up.
"Save more" is not a goal. Each one gets a target amount, a target date and the monthly figure that follows from both — and an order of priority when two goals want the same money.
Every recurring payment goes on a calendar with a reminder date ahead of it, annual charges included, so renewals are a decision rather than a surprise.
Your spending report says where the money went in words you use, with the three lines worth acting on marked. No jargon, no scoring, no lecture.
Your figures are discussed with you and nobody else. We tell you what we hold, why we hold it, and you can ask us to delete it.
Enough of a picture to be useful: roughly what comes in, how often, and a few months of outgoings in whatever form you have them — statements, exports or screenshots. We will tell you exactly what is missing rather than ask for everything at once.
No. We never hold your banking credentials and never move your money. You keep full control; we read, organise and advise on what we are shown.
No. Our work is household money management — spending, budgeting, bills and savings goals. We do not recommend investments, products or providers.
That is usually the right moment. Untidy records are normal and sorting them is the first part of the job, not a prerequisite for it.
Yes. Household accounts are set up for two people sharing costs, with shared and personal money kept clearly apart and both of you present at the review.
I knew roughly what I earned and had no idea where it went. The first report was uncomfortable reading and then it was simply a list of decisions. I follow one page now.
The bill calendar was worth it on its own. Two annual renewals I had never noticed, both flagged a month ahead.
Sober, unhurried and no sales pitch at the end. They dated our deposit goal and told us honestly what the monthly figure would have to be.
We came as a couple with a long argument about money. Splitting shared from personal on paper ended most of it.
Tell us your name, where to reach you and what you would like sorted. We read every enquiry ourselves.
Thank you — someone from Halvorsen & Reid will get in touch shortly at the address you gave us.
Start with a conversation. Nothing is charged and nothing is agreed before you have it in writing.
